HistoryThe Book Basket opened it's doors on December 9, 2000 in a big yellow house on the corner of 9th and Main in Lander, Wyoming. Lori Newman was the original owner. She and Marty Brace originally set up shop selling used books, videos, music, and other odds & ends. The Lander community was very welcoming of the new book store and soon were bringing them boxes and boxes of books. With a growing inventory, they soon found themselves ready for a larger location. In 2001, Marty bought the business and moved it to its current location at 325 Main Street. Eventually, videos, music and odds & ends were phased out to focus more on books and audio. Book Basket also sells Bananagrams, a Scrabble-like game that was named 2009 Game of the Year, and maps of places around the world. OfferingsThe vision of The Book Basket is to serve the entire Lander community without catering to any specific clientele. We pride ourselves on our large inventory and broad range of genres. We strive to include something for everyone. Our shelves encompass an eclectic selection of large print, childrens literature, local history, antiquarian, audio books, cook books, and much more! We provide an easy-to-understand trade and credit policy, and keep customer book requests on file. We also offer a free out-of-print book search, audio book rental, and a friendly atmosphere. Our current goal is to incorporate more world maps and travel guides into our inventory. |
